the last 4 months

Well.. hello people. It has been  a LONG time since I last wrote on this blog. So today is the day for the update. Lots has been happening in the last 4 months. A quick over view of what i've been up to
- Trip to Singapore
- Trip to  Chennai, India, wow, this was amazing. Being with Colleen Redit at Christian Missions Charitable trust, then being  at the Global Consultation for Children in prayer.
- Trip to Perth, Australia for the Australian National Aglow Convention. I got to meet Evangeline Weiner - Generations project co-ordinator for International.
- Christchurch Aglow Trip
- Palmerston North Aglow training day
- Queenstown Trip - leading worship at Christian Camping Conference and time to enjoy Gods beautiful Creation.   I even got a free helicopter ride.. very cool.
- Lower South Island Aglow trip - Gore, Dunedin, Invercargil, Alexandra... and the roads in between.
- Work at Aglow office in Wellington
- Auckland Aglow Training Day
- Have just been back to Christchurch for the Generations camp .. an awesome weekend, and day after the camp to see the phenominal things God is doing through ordinary people.

Have had my 28th birthday, and afew other birthdays and a wedding to go to, also the normal ordinary things of life.... house work- gardening- walking on the beach.. and trying to keep up with awesome friends. Its been a challenge with all the travel spend time with friends etc... but thankfully God has a way of letting you pick up where you left off..

My parents had a big move.. living at Lake Taupo Christian camp for 22 years.. and now they have left. This was a huge part of our lives. Its cool to see that there are new things ahead, yay.

Im in Wellington today, having  a bit of a restful day, and catching up on myself...
I hope life is well with you..
I will attempt to keep this more updated.

blessings.. katie

World outreach Forum..Singapore

Hello friends,
Well its been an awesome week here in Singapore. We have only got 12 or so more hours here -and most of that will be sleeping. We are heading to Chennai, India tomorrow morning at 8.30am.   This week has been really busy. The last four days we have been at Youth Forum with World Outreach, discussing mobilizing youth into mission. There was about 12 of us from different nations, some involved as missionaries from World Outreach and afew others of us from different Christian Mission Organisations. We have come up with ALOT of ideas, and thought through processes of implementation. It will be exciting to see how things unfold from this forum and how God uses it. I have personally found it very beneficial for the ministry I am doing back home with Aglow and setting up the generations project. I think its great to network and gain wisdom from others.  I have loved meeting new people, and hearing stories of what God is doing in the nations. WOW... I hope to keep in touch with many from this forum, and also others we have met.
We would appreciate your prayer for the next phase of the mission as we head to India - for protection - physically and spiritually, and for the Lord to really fulfil HIS purpose for this trip. Will write again soon... when we are in India.

4th day in Singapore!!

Hey ... well  we have been here for 3 days now. and its been a full on 3 days. We have spent time with Adrian- our friend who lives here, who came to work at Camp afew years back. He took us around the city - by foot, we must have done nearly 7kms. Lim( a new friend) blessed us yesterday by taking us out for breakfast, then introducing us to his family. He took us to the Zoo as well which was definitely a bonus. Lim also introduced us to Pastor Roy from Cambodia.Him and his family do an amazing work their reaching out to Vietnamese people! What a priviledge to be able to meet him. We went to Community of Praise Baptist Church on Sunday, and last night Dad and I went to Gospel Light Christian Church Bible Study. I got to meet some really lovely ladies, and Dad got to meet some awesome men. The message last night was on Genesis 22 - it was so great to be able to be there, and receive encouragement from the Word of God, and connect with people on a deep level.
Today we start the World Outreach Forum... so we are just getting ready to go to that. We are praying that God will very much lead us as we head into the next few days!
I better go and get some breakfast..... write more soon!!

Singapore...we are here

Hello...Well we have made it safely to Singapore. The flight was ok... quite bumpy, but I have to say that I'm impressed with Singapore Airlines- they even give us Chips, and chocolate - definitely suited our movie watching, chilling out - kiwi type of fun. I was trying to not watch any movies but I have to be honest and let you know that I gave in - the flight was 10.5 hours so we had to try and make the time go faster. I watched 27 dresses, and step it up 2.
We got into Singapore at around 7.30pm. David Elliot from world outreach met us at airport and took us on the MRT( subway train)- for about an hour... Dad was slowly fading- poor thing.. but he managed to get off the train and into the taxi ok... and also pay for it all - as we didnt have much singapore dollars - yay for DADS.... We got to our accomodation at about 9.30pm. Dad is on basement level, and we are on level 3. We are staying at the Salvation Army Praisehaven Retreat centre. Its different to what I thought. It kinda feels like a hostel... The church is part of the complex, and heaps of other stuff..
Its just after 6am... we woke not long ago... and its RAINING, and thunder and Lighting - we are doing some thinking about how to get around today as its VERY WET. I'm sure some miracles will  take place and we will be FINE.
The verse that i'm reminded of this morning is Psalm 29.. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name, worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. The voice of the Lord is over the waters, the GOD OF glory thunders, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters. WE DO SERVE A POWERFUL AND MIGHTY GOD. What a privilege to worship him today in another nation and see his handy work through the rain and thunder and lightning and of course the beautiful people we are meeting.
Will write again soon..... love katie

last two weeks, and coming two weeks....

Well what an interesting few weeks its been! I had the privilege of being in Wellington last week.. I was down at the Aglow Office - which is always a blessing. I love the ladies of AGLOW.
I also got to Catch up with my sister and brother in law- Anna and Mike.. and their precious children- Rachel, Joseph and Daniel. I'm so glad I got to spend some time with them - even though it was short.
This week has been quite different. I experienced witnessing a fatal accident on Sunday night after church and that was not a nice experience at all. Finding out more about the victims and their precious families has been good. I can imagine it must be a VERY hard time for all the families and friends involved. I am praying for them, that God would be very near, and do miracles.
This weekend my Dad, and my good friend Alicia Kant and I are flying to Singapore and then onto India. We will be in Singapore from the 21- 29th June, and then go to Chennai, India - we return back to New Zealand on the 8th of July.  We are attending two different Conferences, and taking part in these. We are believing that both of these gatherings will be awesome God filled, God honoring, Kingdom building , encouraging times.  Your prayer will be much appreciated.
I will be writing updates on this blog, so keep checking up to see photos, and hear stories.
Have a blessed Weekend.

hello people...
Well i just thought id write a wee update . The next few months are gearing up to be rather busy ones.. with quite a lot of travel - singapore/india/australia/south island. I am enjoying a quieter week - preparing for the up and coming travels. I love how God knows exactly what we need in every season of life that we are in.. so I'm thankful this week for the fact that I've been allowed to rest a little.
Last week I was in Wellington, and then Auckland. I was doing work with Aglow.. and it was awesome. 6 precious girls gave their lives to Jesus and this has to be the highlight of my year so far. I know that something new is happening in Aglow.. and it really excites me. I'm excited about the destiny, the purpose, the plan that God has for this generation. It's such a privilege to see first hand God opening peoples eyes to who HE is and the Love HE has for them... wow... words can't really explain it.
Be blessed this week....
love, katie

Saturday, May 3, 2008

Well hello there people who read this.. not sure if many do but thats ok. It's quite fun taking time out to think about whats been happening over the last month or so. I am blown by the provision, faithfulness, love and reality of God- my friend and saviour.
WOW. What a God we serve.  The pictures below are a little taste of what I've been up to. In mid april I headed down to Taupo, levin, then Wellington. I spent a night with my parents, two nights with my Anna and Mike ( sista and bro n law), then spent 5 nights in Wellington. I attended the Aglow national Convention which was held at Parliament. I have recently come on to the board of Aglow to  head up the generations project. I am really excited about this, and am expectant at what God is going to do through this. I've just started so things will start to unfold soon.  The conference was awesome. I felt humbled to be there, and know that it was a significant event in our nation.  The Aglow International CEO was at the conference and it was so cool to hear her messages, and spend some time talking about the generations project and what God is doing around the world.
After being in wellington I headed back to Taupo for a week and helped at Kids Camp. It was another awesome week. It was TOTALLY different to the conference , but its awesome to know that GOD does NOT change, his heart for his creation- us humans - is always the same - full of absolute Love and passion.  It was fun to be at camp and hang out with young ones who have so much energy and zeal for life.  I love how children especially are so open, hungry and willing to trust and just be real.  WE can learn alot from the children.
This last week I have been having  a quieter week at home, catching up on sleep, and visiting friends. I spoke at an Aglow meeting here in Tauranga on Thursday and that was a good time. This week I will be doing some relief teaching - which I'm excited about as I love to connect with young people. I'm heading to Auckland on Friday for the memorial service of the precious students and teacher who died from Elim Christian College ( school i use to teach at). It will be a very special yet I'm sure sobering celebration of their amazing lives.
This morning at Church we had an awesome sermon on LOVE...! Definitely one of the most important things we need to be doing.... loving God and loving others.  As the days move closer and closer to the return of JESUS we need to be constantly aware that our Love needs to grow stronger. It says in the bible that Love of most will grow cold.  Its a challenge to us all to keep the love in our hearts growing every day. We can  only grow in love as we spend time with the best lover ever - which is Jesus... so be encouraged to come to Him and let you love tank be filled so that you can then share love with others.
on that note... i will close. till next time.. love and blessings,, katie

God is GOOD

Lots has been happening over the last month..i think its time for a wee update..

At the end of February I was blessed to be able to  attend the Todd Bently Conference in Auckland.  It was an awesome few days of being inspired, and seeing God do powerful things. I felt like God used this time to confirm to me some things that he had been speaking to me about- which is always good!!

After this time in Auckland I  moved to new house in Papamoa, and have been here nearly a month. Its near the beach and is a HUGE blessing. I headed up to Auckland afew weeks back and spoke and lead worship at Aglow North Shore. It was a special time of being in the presence of God. I returned home on the Friday and had Lunch with a good friend Deb - we went to the local christian Bookshop and we both ended up getting a book called "The Deborah Company". I read this book last week and it has really encouraged me and challenged me. I have been in the process of making some decisions regarding things I will be doing this year and through reading this book, i knew it was time to make the decision. I have the opportunity to help Algow NZ in reaching the next generation of woman of our nation- and the nations... so I have said yes to this opportunity. Its a big faith step... and its exciting.. yet a little scary to... but i am excited.  I have really been challenged about stepping up and using the gifts that God has given me- and be who he has made me to be.   I want to encourage others to do the same - and I know that by being part of Aglow ministry this will be able to happen.

I just went for a walk on the beach this morning with my Dad - who stayed the night... as I was walking I felt a bit of a challenge to be more intentional about sharing the awesome news of Jesus with other people. I wonder sometimes why I'm sooooo shy, and not out their with my faith. I mean hello... we have the best news in the world. So ... hopefully over the next week I will have some stories to share on my blog about the bold steps i'm taking in sharing my faith.

Many blessings... keep smiling... and remember you are LOVED

My break in TAUPO

Hello.. Well i am having a wee break in Taupo for a few days with a great friend of mine - Brooke - from the USA. We were flatmates in 2004.  Brooke is out here for afew weeks, so its been so awesome to catch up with her. I love the Lords timing - its so perfect. I feel like I'm at the start of a new season.. some changes are happening for me - like living situation, work etc. Its awesome to know that the Lord knows what we need before we even ask.
I have just received an amazing gift of a New Computer - i am using it now.. its a Mac Book. I am so blown away by the Lords provision, and the generosity of the people who gave it to me.

I was at the lake yesterday- enjoying some time with God.. i was reminded of Psalm 1 where it talks about Being like a tree planted by streams of water. The part of the Lake we were at was a surrounded by lots and lots of trees- I was asking the Lord about this. Trees are quite amazing- they get planted.. and they grow.. and they go through the seasons. Some seasons they do not bear fruit etc. some they do. I was encouraged by my thoughts about trees. I found some verses in Gen 2, and Rev 22 - wow -Life started with the Tree - with Adam and Eve, and it will end with a tree - in Heaven - the Tree of Life. This gave me some great perspective.
Life can be hard, and its easy to get distracted by things of the world and he situations we are facing.  Rev 2 - says to the Church in Ephesus - Return to your FIRST love, - do the things you did at first, Repent - return to the Lord - Get back to what its all really about.     verse 7 says - He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the Churches. To him who overcomes I will right to eat from the TREE of life which is in the paradise of God.
I dont know about you, but I know for me right now I need to return to my first LOVE, JESUS -do the things I did when I first came to know him.. Get back to the most important thing of all. Let the things of the world, and the challenges of Life be bought into right perspective - realising that through JEsus we can overcome...and one day we will be with Him in Paradise- eating from that TREE...!

My prayer today is that we would return to JESUS - fall in Love with him again - do the things we did at first.. and know the overcoming power for JESUS today!!

SHINE

Shine - The girls mentoring groups that i'm involved with started today. We started a group at Aquinas College - which is just up the road from my house. We had 5 beauitful girls today and next week there will be another 3 girls join the group. We had lots of fun talking about how unique and special we are, and how we need to look after the bodies that we have. The girls learnt about skin care and even got to do a special facial on themselves - this is always a cool start to the programme as its often something the girls have never done before.

February has come FAST

Well 2008 is definitely rolling... I can't believe that we have already into February. This year is set to be a very interesting one for me. I have just resigned from my piano teaching job, and am trusting God for the next thing that he has for me. ( I will write another update soon with more information on this). I am excited about this step- although I know that it will have its challenges to.
One of my very special friends Brooke - who I flatted with in 2004 is in NZ for a holiday, so I am looking forward to seeing her soon and having a wee holiday with her. I am heading up to Auckland next week to pick up a Laptop that i have been very generously given. This too is a major answer to prayer, and such a provision from God. I have been wanting to be able to record music, and generally keep up with the times, espeically with ministry things this computer will be a great aid. God is sooo good.
Next week the Shine mentoring prgramme that i help with is staring. There is a possiblity of 3 schools this term... so it could be busy. Its an amazing blessing to be part of this ministry, and I believe that it is going to grow even more in NZ.
I have been enjoying spending time at the Tauranga house of Prayer.. and am going to be making this a prioirty. I know that right now its a very important time to be keeping my heart soft towards God, and open to Him- and desperate for Him.

Well I will write again soon.... be blessed lots

Am back in New Zealand.

Hello everyone, Just wanted to write to let yall know that i'm back in NZ. We flew in Wednesday morning at around 8am. Was a great flight from Hong Kong. Unfortunately I didnt manage to sleep on the flight so I ended up being awake for around 36 hours... I did have a great sleep in my own bed last night. Im now trying to get tired..so i can go to sleep again but I am still on Korea time.

My time in South Korea was really awesome. Im so grateful to the Lord for providing me with the opportunity to be part of the Camp. Its always a priviledge to go to new places - representing the Lord,,, and sometimes I think NZ too..

While I was away I heard that Jay Jays clothing store in NZ released a new label of clothing called little loosers... i was quite disturbed about it. I remember sitting in my classroom after getting the email from Family first and praying for NZ... and then for once i took some action and wrote to the Company... I was soo excited today to hear that they were taken off the shelves. the power of PRAYER and ACTION.. I know many people would have responded to this. I hope that you are encouraged from this.. Like I was today!!

I think leaving NZ makes me realise the things I need to be grateful for, but it also wakes me up to the things that I think we need to change.

I really loved the simplicity of faith of the Christians I met.. and the churches I visited. It was very refreshing to get some new perspectives on things.

I have come home and feel at peace about 2008.. I feel like it is going to be a year of NEW BEGGININGS.. It stared with a new thing - teaching in South Korea... and I know there are more new things in store.

Over the next week I will be having a break - hopefully getting a sense of direction for the rest of the year.. I am excited.. and also aware of really keeping my eyes fixed on Jesus and not people, or things..

I better go and try and get some sleep.... heres a wee pic of me trying to sleep on the plane.. its not the best shot... but its what i need to be doing now.

blessings lots

1 More week in Korea

Well hello people... i'm not sure if many people read this, but i enjoy writing wee updates. Feel free to leave a comment if you have time.

We are into the last week of English camp. I have really enjoyed it and am so glad I came. I think it will be good to head back to NZ though as I have been missing my bed.. my friends and family. The camp environment or how we are living while at camp is pretty full on, and quite tiring. It will be good to have some time of rest when I get back to NZ.

This week we will be working on getting ready for the graduation ceremony on Saturday. My students are singing the theme song by the Monkees.. it should be pretty cool.

WE had the weekend off from satruday afternoon. It was fun to get out and see some of the sights of Pusan. We managed to ride the subway, go on a gondola, see some traditional Korean temples etc, and also get to Hyundae beach. WE found a department store to so I bought a jacket... it was a bit of a bargain so that was good! We went to church on sunday morning here on the University campus. It was an english service. Its awesome to know that God is the same all over the world, and that we have family every where. I'm being reminded of the importance of keeping my eyes fixed on the Lord, and walking by faith and not by sight. We heard a great message on Leadership and what is looks like to be a leader for the Lord. I really appreciated hearing a message straight from the WORD of GOD.. there truly is nothing like it.

Well... i gota go and have dinner..

blessings to you

I'm having fun

Last night we went out for dinner to the "Outback"- an Australian Restaurant. We had a whirlwind tour around the markets.. its the first time ive seen a fish market.. it was pretty cool. We will be heading back to the markets in the weekend so that will be great. The dinner was so nice as we got to eat some western food, i felt really full and a little sick afterwards.

Today i managed to get some new glasses- seriously like $60.. wow, very cheap.

One of my students is very sick and has been taken to hospital. She got hit on the head with a ball, and will not be returning to camp. Please pray that she will recover. I got my class to pray for her today which was so awesome. I think could understand that God CAN do miracles.

We have nearly finished our 2nd week teaching, i cant beleive how fast the time has gone. I am looking forward to coming back to NZ and seeing what the Lord brings my way for 2008.

The kids will be here soon for games... so i better go and get ready.

Monday, January 7, 2008

This is my class of 14 students.. I teach them 3 times a day, we are having lots of fun. I think that I will miss them when I have to leave.

This is a picture of Degan, Louise and I on our way to town to get Burger king for dinner. We just needed a little break from rice. The lit up tress are on the Universtity campus - its so pretty.
We are nearly half way through our teaching, and are all starting to feel a little tired. Its going really well though. I managed to buy something else other than socks - i found some nice perfume.. hehe.
Its nearly tea time, so i better go. We have to teach a class tonight .. its been a long day.

The kids are AWESOME

Hi there.... I just wanted to send out a wee email to say hi to you all from SOUTH KOREA. I'm just sitting in my classroom on the 5th floor... looking out my windom - and seeing some high rise apartments... and then some houses... lots of hills... its quite a poor area we are in, so its quite a different view that id get out my window at home.
I am having an awesome time so far. I am teaching 14 beautiful children. They are very cool kids. Their english is improving.. i think.. so i'm encouraged. At first they would hardly talk, but they are really coming out of their shells now.

Today is saturday and we teach till lunch time. This afternoon the parents come in for afternoon- we get to meet them so that will be awesome.

On thursday night a group of us went to the city - we got to see some shops/markets. There were underground ones which were sooo tiny. Shops were the size of my bathroom. I managed to buy some socks... they are pretty cool over here.. so i'm going to stock up.

Tonight we are going to have dinner with John our boss.. we will be going to his house for a meal so that should be pretty fun.
We are all getting on well and enjoying being in a different culture.
I think that kids are the same everywhere... i sometimes dont feel like i'm in South Korea... kids love having fun.. and they respond so well to encouragement and time given to them.

I have been doing singing with the kids - a specialist class in the afternoons. Barak Zamar is now famous in Korea.. hehe... thanks guys.. they love the CHOCOLATE song. The kids are singing in ALL the time. I did sing the Jesus version with some kids yesterday and afew boys changed the name Jesus to Budda . Im believing that God will do poweful things in the coming weeks - that he would be made known, that the children would come to know him... and the leaders to.
Your prayer would be much appreciated.
Well.... My kids will be here soon....
I better go and get ready.
love and blessings to you all...
I hope you had a great start to the year.

love..
katie
